In December of 2023, our Foundation unveiled the newly named Dialysis Unit right here at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, in recognition of a generous life and a generous gift.

William (Bill Lake) served as a Foundation board member from 1993 – 1996 and, following the end of his service, maintained his support of the Foundation. Bill’s family described him as “generous, outgoing, thoughtful, persistent and, first and foremost, devoted to his family and friends.” Prior to his passing on April 4, 2023, Bill completed a $1,000,000 gift that will enhance the care patients receive and help to overcome some of the challenges they face as they receive treatment. From replacement of dialysis treatment chairs, to funding a new mammography unit, establishing a patient assistance fund to help patients who need it most and more, Bill’s gift will have a lasting impact and his legacy of kindness will live on.

Following his passing, the Lake family agreed that Bill would never have asked or expected to be honored in this way, but it would have moved him deeply.
