Local couple inspired to give generous donation to the Rehabilitation Services Department

Judith and James Richards made a generous donation to our hospitals Rehabilitation Services (Physiotherapy) Department this summer. We had the opportunity to speak with Judith and learn why making this donation was important to her and her husband. “Both my husband and I have had incredible care and service at the hospital over the past year. We can't say enough about the staff, we were treated like royalty. I have had two knee replacements and the Physio and OT team were so wonderful. I always knew how lucky we were to have this hospital in our community but over the past year we have had to rely on it and we are so very grateful."

Rehabilitation services at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre (CEHHC) provide crucial support to patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory issues. From newborns to seniors, individuals of all ages benefit from outpatient, community, and inpatient physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

The dedicated staff play a vital role across various care areas, including chronic pain services, the acute stroke unit, and the palliative care unit. Their commitment to patient care is evident in the high demand for services. For instance, outpatient physiotherapy alone received over 1,100 new referrals in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

The team bring expertise, compassion, and dedication to their work, making a profound impact on the lives of their patients. By helping individuals manage pain, recover from strokes, and improve mobility, they enable patients to lead fuller, more independent lives. The comprehensive care provided by rehabilitation services is an essential part of the healthcare system, ensuring patients receive the support they need to enhance their quality of life and manage their health conditions effectively.

Thank you Judith and James for supporting our Rehabilitation Services Department!
