The Jenna Delaney Diagnostic Imaging Department
In October of 2018, the impact Jenna Delaney made on her family, friends and her community was forever remembered and celebrated with the unveiling of the Jenna Delaney Diagnostic Imaging Department here at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
For her parents, Dr. Brian and Jean Delaney, the opportunity to remember their daughter in such a meaningful way stirred many emotions. They know too well the critical importance of a timely and accurate diagnosis, and their gift demonstrates their commitment to ensuring that the Diagnostic Imaging team has the tools they require to provide the best care for their patients, for our community.
“We chose to make a gift in support of the Diagnostic Imaging department because it really fit with what matters to us,” said Dr. Delaney. “The opportunity to honor our daughter and have her remembered in this way means so much to us and represents the person Jenna was. She was a beautiful, kind and giving person who didn’t let her cancer stop her from living, from enjoying life. She never once complained about her cancer or her treatments. She always thought of others even during the most challenging times. She was a source of light for us and for others and its our hope that supporting the Diagnostic Imaging in a significant way will mean she continues to be a source of light and hope for others. We know this gift might mean another family will not undergo the pain our family has endured.”
“Our diagnostic imaging team at CEHHC works hard to provide the best possible service to our community,” said Cheryl Northcott, Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Norther Zone
Operations Executive Director. “The Delaney family’s gift demonstrates the generous commitment the Foundations donors have to ensure our staff and physicians have specialized medical equipment to diagnose and treat family, friends and neighbors.”
The Delaney family gift is the first step toward securing $5.2 million in funding for Diagnostic Imaging to replace key diagnostic equipment, including a new CT scanner.
